The first inhabitants of Lanai came to the island more than 500 years ago, attracted to the majesty, beauty and tranquility that continues to define Lanai today. Few places offer the natural splendor, wide array of activities, and relaxing atmosphere that Lanai offers to those fortunate enough to visit.
King Kamehameha was so taken by Lanai he established a summer home on the island. Today, Lanai remains a Pacific oasis with a mere 29 miles of paved roads, but countless miles of untouched mountain, valleys, forests and sun-soaked beaches for you to discover.
Enjoy the ‘āina (land) of Lanai!
Explore the mighty Pacific that envelops Lanai. The Luahiwa petroglyphs still visible on Lanai today are reminders of the first Polynesian settlers who sailed out into the vast Pacific and charted a course for Lanai countless generations ago.
Today, Lanai offers Ocean activities for all. Snorkel in the warm, clear tide pool waters off iconic Hulopoe Beach. Try your hand at deep seas fishing or take a romantic sunset cruise with that special someone. Or just relax on soft, white sand and take in the breathtaking beauty of the Lanai coast.
The moana (ocean) has something for everyone!
Just a few short steps away from the hotel you’ll find Lanai City, the historic plantation village once surrounded by rolling pineapple fields. Today, the small town bustles with foot traffic around Dole Park, shaded by towering Cooke Pines planted nearly 100 years ago.
Follow the perimeter of the park and you’ll find several local markets, a Hawaiian poke shop, the Mike Carroll fine art gallery and more. The Lanai Art Center, the Hula Hut, and the Local Gentry are favorite spots to pick up local souvenirs. Pick up a snack from Richard’s Market or Blue Ginger on your way to a beach or hike, and spend a relaxing evening at our award-winning movie theater, Hale Keaka.
Be sure to wave and say hello to passersby in this town, and enjoy a taste of Hawaiian style living, friendly and unhurried - the way it has always been.
